Just came back from a debaucherious weekend that rivals any that I have had in some time. Let me tell you, I went from mass riches to the depths of poverty in a little more than five hours. I went up to that dilapidated pithole of a town on Friday and arrived around 9:00 P.M. I checked into my hotel, the Tropicana, and went down to try my hand at a couple rounds of Black Jack with my buddy who came along for the ride. We were at the quarter tables and after a couple of hours I was up 500 dollars and he was up more or less the same. We decided to go to Carmines, an excellent Italian restaurant, and we ate dinner. We went back to the casino and decided to play some craps before we retired for the night. After an hour of playing low stakes craps we were were up another 200 dollars each. I went to my room to retire for the night since I had a tournament to attend early next morning. My friend on the other hand wanted to satiate his appetite for some young lass he met on the casino floor and decided he was going to stick around a bit longer.
I enjoy playing poker and will travel to casinos to play in these weekly tournaments from time to time. This current tournament was a $100 buy in and there were two hundred or so entries. The problem with live events, as opposed to online tournaments, is the wait time you experience between hands. Having been accustomed to playing online where the pace is frenetic, I was beginning to experience some anxiety at the slow pace. I fought a good battle but in the end I became way too impatient, playing garbage hands and ultimately busting out with pocket Jacks against pocket Kings. Who cares, it was only 100 dollars. I then decided to play in a couple of ring games, which turned out to be much more fruitful for the Chuck. I was at 5/10 table and the players were exceptionally soft. After playing for most of the day, I was up a tidy sum of loot, around 1,700 dollars. It was already nearing evening time and I had yet to locate my friend. Who knows, maybe he got lucky? At any rate, I figured this was a good time for me to go up to my room and try to locate him. Well he was no where to be found and I was hungry so I decided to get some dinner at the Palm. Since I was there by myself, I decided to hunker down at the bar and order some well deserved drinks and a fat juicy steak. Somewhere between my 6th or 7th bourbon, I notice my friend wandering outside the mall area of the casino. He seemed discombobulated and lost, so I went out to greet him. He came in to the bar area and told me that he did indeed got together with the young lass he was eyeing the previous night and that he went over to her hotel room and they proceeded to pop open some champagne and were about to do whatever they were about to do. However, his memory failed him at this point and seeing that his film ended, he really had no idea what the hell happened. He said he woke up about an hour ago with all of his loot in his wallet and watch gone and the concierge at the hotel instructing him to leave the premises since checkout time was well past. Needless to say, I got quite the chuckle out of this and needled him to end. I bought the poor chap and nice fat ribeye and some refreshing beers to boost up his spirits. At least she had the courtesy to leave his wallet, albeit sans any money.
Well we decided it was time to hit the tables and I loaned him a grand and we went to work. Over the next twelve hours, we played blackjack straight and after it was all said and done, we did some serious damage. I was up 7, 400 dollars playing 50 to 100 dollars per hand. My buddy was up 4,000 doing the same. It was now Sunday morning and we decided to call it quits and went back to the room to clean up and get some rest. After a several hours of sleep we packed our bags and checked out. After putting our bags in the car, we decided to stop by and have some lunch at Cuba Libre. After we had some sustenance in our stomach, we made the executive decision to go for a quick round of craps before we departed. Feeling fine from the food and the several quaffs of ale, we went to the quarter craps table and immediately we began to rack up some winnings. This, however, was short lived and in a little more than two hours we lost half of our stack. We decided to leave the craps table and go home. But for some inexplicable reason we decided to try to get our recently lost money back at the black jack tables. Well, you do not have to be a genius to figure out what happened next. We lost all of our money and then some, spending another twelve hours in that miserable casino listening to constant jangling of those annoying slot machines, as the dealer continued to pull one miraculous card after another.
I have decided to call in sick today as I am in no mood to deal with anyone today. I will post any plays that I may have later, but I need to sleep at this point. I am, at this juncture, quite fed up with my degenerate ways. I dropped a needless 2,000 dollars and seeing that I was up 7,600 dollars makes it even more sickening. But no matter, the Chuck will get his and I suspect that will be sooner rather than later.
